About St. Clare’s

Mission Statement

Our mission at St. Clare’s school is to provide pupils with an education that is challenging and appropriate to their needs in a safe and caring environment, thus enabling our young people to be the best they can be.

School Ethos

Schools, regardless of religion have many similarities in terms of Curriculum, rules for Boards of Management, administration and staffing but where they differ from each other is their ‘Ethos’.

School Ethos is the characteristic spirit of a school community in its attitudes and aspirations. This is built upon its aims and objectives, policies and procedures and should be reflected in all interactions within the school community. Thus the ethos of a school impacts strongly on the kind of education delivered to its pupils.

As the cornerstone of its ethos, St. Clare’s school supports the principles of:

  • Inclusiveness, specifically with reference to the enrolment of children in the Moderate Range GLD.
  • Equality of access and participation in the school;
  • Parental choice in relation to enrolment;
  • Respect for diversity of values, beliefs, traditions, languages and ways of life in society.

A child-centered approach to education is very much the essence of St. Clare’s school’s ethos. The school cherishes all children equally. A strong emphasis is placed on care values based on relationships between all the constituent partners in the school.

The school is a Catholic school in the Diocese of Killaloe and one which aims to provide equal rights of access to all children of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds.

The Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation are delivered by the teachers to the pupils in consultation and partnership with the Diocese. Preparation for the Sacraments is considered necessary and appropriate and the celebration takes place at Ennis Cathedral.
